After the three years long Covid pause, I prepared a new photo exhibition - JAPAN UNSEEN! During the 16th Eigasai festival of Japanese film and culture held in Prague's exclusive cultural place Lucerna Palace near Wenceslas Square, you can see my black and white dynamic photo-visions of Japan created during my trips in 2015 - 2019.

I wanted to create something special, something that brings almost Kafkaesque feeling and emotion of modern Japan, the mixture of harsh future with traces of the past.

In the cities of present-day Japan, the modern world has moved incredibly quickly towards the way of living of advanced civilizations in futuristic science fiction novels.

Is there any place for humans in such a world?

And how is human personality affected by daily life in such a place?

Do Japanese people still notice things around them or do they just drive through the concrete jungle from their homes to work and back?

And is there still a place for history, for tradition?

JAPAN UNSEEN is an exhibition of dreamy Japanese photo visions from a place where the past meets the future.

Photos are accompanied by haiku poems by contemporary Japanese poets featured in Sylva Martinásková's book "The Modernization of Japan Reflected in Traditional Poetic Forms of Tanka and Haiku".
